Whispering Pines - Jeremy's Apt
This apartment gives a look of high expense, not in the building itself,
but it's contents. The walls and ceiling are painted pure black, and the
carpet matches the darkness, save for some off color fuzz, being that it's
a pretty new carpet. Across from the door in the living area is a large
black entertainment center consisting of a not suprisingly black 42" TV, a
large fully digital stereo system with CD and tape players, AM/FM stereo,
a setting for the TV, and a useless setting called 'phono'. There are
various gaming systems tucked into the entertainment center as well,
baring names like Dreamcast, Playstation and Playstation 2, various
systems with the word 'Nintendo' upon them... 3D0, NeoGeo, and finally
something called a 'colecovision'. This system is complemented nicely by a
high quality Bose surround sound speaker system. Two black leather couches
are on the left and right of the living area, angled at the entertainment
center. A large chest rests on the ground between the couches and the
entertainment center, working as a foot rest. The only sources of light
are the LEDs on the stereo, the TV, and a small blacklight bulb in the fan
in the center of the apartment. A door to the right of the apartment leads
to Roger's bedroom(+view) and the small kitchen is visable on the right
side of the apartment, almost a part of the living room. The kitchen is
lit up by a hallogen lamp, resting next to the front door, pointed towards
it.
It's midmorning, and someone's enjoying their day off. Music filters
through the apartment and even out into the hallway a short distance,
played loudly from a certain roachkin's computer. Currently, it's
Apocalyptica's "Inquisition Symphony," which seems to suit this Kin's
recent activities perfectly.
The knock that interrupts Ebony's relaxation sounds almost demandingly
loud, but at least it makes itself heard above the music.
Grumbling a moment, Ebony reaches over to turn the music down a little,
suspecting his neighbours have come to complain. Lurching to his feet and
wandering out of his room, over to the door, he takes a moment to compose
his features away from a look of distaste before opening the door, instead
striving to appear welcoming. Hmf. "Hey."
So, which is worse -- angry neighbors or a certain stern, dour Glass
Walker Elder? "Morning," says Salem, coolly. "I received your message."
Ebony shrugs loosely, opening the door enough for aforementioned Elder to
enter. "Take a seat," he invites, his tone strictly polite as he heads
back to his room. "I'll be out in a sec."
Salem nods, slipping off the dark, mirrored sunglasses as he enters. He
remains standing near the door, arms folded. his face a stone-cold mask.
Ebony emerges from his room a moment later, carrying a few scraps of paper
in one hand. He pauses in his doorway, eyeing the other Walker for a
moment before shaking his head ruefully. "I did a little pokin' and
proddin' around," he offers eventually. "Turns out the warehouse is leased
out to this company called 'Shipping Express', a night-freight thing.
Doubt the actual owners are involved, but if they are, th' owning company
's called Washington Realty."
Salem grunts. "Night freight. Well, that's typical. Were you able to find
anything on the company itself?"
Ebony mmms, shaking his head. "It's elusive. I've still got a few things
to try, though they're gonna take time." Another piece of paper comes to
the fore, one with what looks like a diagram on it. "Got blueprints of the
buildin'. Dunno why, just curious I guess. Be any help t'you?"
Salem's eyebrows lift. _That_ caught his interest. He almost smiles, even.
"Absolutely. The Sept will be making an assault on the place shortly.
Either next week or the week after."
The kinsman returns to his room, hitting a few keys on the computer,
followed by the sound of a printer beginning to do it's thing. He emerges
once it's done, holding a couple of copies of the same diagram; a large,
open floor with bathroom and office space in the northwest corner.
Approaching, he offers them over. "Enjoy."
Salem skims an eye over the building diagram for a moment, then nods,
folding the papers neatly. "This will be invaluable. Thank you." He slips
the paper into a pocket of his coat, then studies Ebony's face for a
second. "How's Jeremy, by the way?"
"He's okay. Busy," the roachkin replies, particularly vaguely. "Don't see
him much, 'cuz we've got opposing shifts." Heading over into the kitchen,
he fills the kettle before putting it on. "Stayin' fer a cup?"
A knock sounds at the front door, followed by silence. For those that look
at the monitor to see who it is, they see a pair of Gnawers. Renee in her
many layers of clothes and Craig bundled up in winter clothes, his face
hidden.
The knock comes before Salem can answer; he glances up at the monitor, his
expression turning as cool as it was when he first arrived. "Mm. Thank
you, but no," he says, answering Ebony. "I have a few errands that have to
get done before noon."
Renee grins at the kinsman. "Yo. Whats up?" Stepping inside, she takes a
quick look around the apartment and sees Salem. Her posture stiffens, as
she unconciously takes on a defencive stance. "Hey, Salem..."
"Good morning, Renee. Craig." The Walker greets the pair courteously
enough, civil but without any particular warmth. He takes out his
sunglasses and slips them back on, then turns toward Ebony. "If you come
across anything more, let me know. And thank you."
"Yeah, sure Salem," Ebony calls back, making tea for three. "Drop me a
line if you need 'owt else."
"Will do," Salem promises, and then sweeps out of the apartment, closing
the door behind him.
