Among the Steam Vents
The ground here is hard and rocky and barren, unlike the greener swath visible
through the steam to the north. Small, narrow cracks network the area,
steam trickling out of many of them, probably at least partly fed from
the stream flowing underground from the east. The warm circulating steam
fills the air around here, warming those nearby, leaving a thin sheen of
dampness on almost everything around, and making the rocky ground that
much more slippery. Sometimes, a blast of hot steam bursts up from some
of the cracks, making the temperature uncomfortably hot an releasing a
strong odor of minerals with sulpher undertone.
The old growth forest surrounding the caern has been hewn down out to 150',
leaving only stumps as tombstones for the mighty trees that once
sheltered the caern. The ground has a light covering of grasses and weeds
and wildflowers and occasional sapling trees, but nothing larger than
that.
Through the mists, you can see the caern circling towards the walls of the
crevice, north towards the rocky slab; east, you can hear the waterfall;
the caern's center lies to the northeast. The valley continues towards
the southwest.
Adrian sits in the midst of the steam, doing crunches. The young Get works hard
at his routine. The steam causes him to sweat even more as he works out.
Hes counting quietly to himself.
Adrian stands at 5'8" and appears to be around 17 years of age. His body is
starting to fill out nicely due to his well known daily routine of
working out. Though not physically imposing, it seems he could hold his
own in a scrap if needed. His body taunt with muscle, like a swimmer or
runner.
His long blonde hair hangs loose, resting on his shoulders and falling back to
hang between his shoulder blades. A rogue strand or two falls in his
face, covering his cobalt blue eyes, which often sparkle. His Nordic
features are difficult to miss. High cheek bones, full lips that seem
destined to be kissed often. He's definitely growing into his looks and
becoming quite the hottie. His skin tanned from spending so much time
outside.
A necklace of rainbow colored links adorns his neck. Two gold hoops, one in
each ear, catch the light occasionally. He wears a tight pair of 501's,
leaving little to the imagination. He is currently wearing a tight
charcoal grey knit shirt which clings to him like a second skin, the
better to show off his abs and muscles. Payoff of all of the working out
he is known to do. He is clad in combat boots, spit shined to perfection.
Flash clambers down into the caern, boots slipping slightly. He jogs down the
last foot or so into the caern, arms spread wide and pinwheeling a bit as
he makes a show of slipping and nearly tripping.
Among the trees beyond the clearing of the Caern, a grey/brown wolf stands. He
whuffles at the sight of Flash and his slippery boots, then lopes slowly
toward him. And then... he catches the scent of Adrian among the steam
vents and pauses momentarily to look, then continues toward Flash again.
The first thing to notice about this near-adult wolf/wolfdog/dog? is its high
contrast face of black nose and lips, deep brown eyes and wide, dark ears
all against his light brown/yellow muzzle and cheeks. Dark grey fur
extends from between those deep brown eyes and runs up and spreads over
his head like a pilot's leather cap, then continues where it fades to
black along his spine. His flanks are brown, blending into yellow on the
underside to match the colour of those strong, thin legs, right down to
those exposed black claws. A thick, grey, dark-tipped bushy tail suggests
a more primal genetic heritage, perhaps wolf or Alsatian.
A short, thin streak of missing fur is noticeable on the point of his left
shoulder.
Adrian sits up and looks over at the newcomers, "Hey..." His eyes watch the two
warily, not recognizing the homid and watching the lupus trying to
remember if he's met the wolf.
"Evening, milkpuppies," calls Flash cheerfully, headflicking his bangs out of
his eyes.
~Hello,~ the wolf rumbles with a waggily tail, now quite close to Flash. He
looks uncertainly between the two now.
Adrian blinks, "Milkpuppies? What the hell is that?" He moves out of the steam
to get a better look at the two.
Flash smirks. "Puppies who still drink milk?" He wiggles fingers at Karl in a
wave.
Finds-The-Path snorts, ~I only have milk on breakfast and in hot drinks.~
Adrian snorts as he chuckles, "Oh, ok." He nods and extends his hand, "Adrian."
Flash spits into his palm before slapping hand-skin with Adrian. "Flash Gordon,
bitch of the Garou Nation, scum-sucker, shit-eater, and mule Ragabash of
the Stargazers."
When in rome... Pathfinder shifts up into homid, where he is better known as
Karl. He's met Adrian already, so turns to Flash. "Karl Blakely,
Finds-The Path and spirit-talker under Unicorn."
Adrian pulls his hand back and looks at it, grimacing, "Uhm.. gross." He looks
Flash over, "Metis huh? Never actually met one yet." He smiles at Karl,
"Karl! I thought I knew that wolf." He looks between the two, "So, I'm
Adrian, Get Talespinner." He pauses and smiles, "Almost a full pack here."
Flash casually wipes his hand dry on his jeans. "Jesus fuck, /another/ Get of
Fenris? It's starting to get scary."
Karl chuckles at Flash's comment but asks Adrian, "What was that about a pack?"
Adrian laughs, "I am FAR from the scariest Get and trust me, some of them scare
me too." He turns to Karl as he cocks a thumb to Flash, "Raggy" He points
at Karl, "Theurge" and then indicates himself, "Galliard. All we would
need is an Ahroun and Philoduck and we'd have a Pack. I need to get in
one." He eyes the two other guys, sizing them up, checking them out.
Flash pushes his hands into his back pockets. "Already being scouted for one,
actually. And it isn't /you/ that's scary, but the sheer /number/ of your
cousins in town. Owen, Signe, Jamethon, Dale, Emma, Erika..." He trails
off with a shrug and a headflick.
"Yeah, me too," Karl says. "Uh, about being spoken for, that is. I'm not a
Get," he smirks.
Adrian nods, "Scouted? Wow." He just thinks about that. He looks over at Karl
and nods more, "Wow, slacker Get here then." He frowns a bit.
Flash cocks his head. "Slacker? Oh, and you /should/ talk to Jamethon. Heard
him talking after the moot, and he's wanting to form a gang of meatheads."
Karl chuckles at the 'meatheads' comment, then says, "Yeah, there are still a
few others around not in packs yet, I'm sure. I uh... can't really name
any names, but you're not the only one."
Adrian cocks his head, "I am *not* a meathead." He looks over at Karl, "Good to
hear it. So how ya been, bud?"
Karl shrugs. "Not bad. Now that I'm Rited and have found a pack, I just gotta
wait for the Totem Quest and I'm set," he says with a smile.
Flash smiles sweetly. "All Get of Fenris are meatheads, dahling," he tells
Adrian. Then he asks Karl, "Who you packing with, and under?"
Adrian nods, "Yeah, who?"
"Crescent Wing: Aubrey, Cameron, Trevor, Taslyn... and maybe Isaac. He's
waiting on The Test as well," Karl says.
Adrian nods, "I wonder who I should find and see about joining."
Flash reaches out to give Adrian a poke in the arm. "Jamethon. Is looking. To
form. A pack." He pauses a beat. "Sweetie."
Karl can't help but chuckle at Flash, though he feels a little guilty seeing as
it's at Adrian's expense.
Adrian blinks at Flash, "How much longer ya gonna be making the homophobe
comments? I just want to know now so we can get it over with with an
aimable understanding or this *meathead* needs to challenge the *mule* in
a throwdown?" Adrian cracks his neck to make a point.
"Defensive much?" Flash looks Adrian up and down, then lifts his eyebrows. "How
d'you know /I'm/ not a fag?"
Karl found Adrian's outburst a bit much. He's now about a foot further away
from the pair and looking a little worried.
Adrian shakes his head, "I don't, but I just don't care anymore either. If I
have to prove myself as a Get, a man, or in any other aspect I'd just as
soon get it over with now. Capiche?" He doesn't back down. "I'd rather be
friends, but some folks need a show of dominence first I've noticed. So,
what will it be Flash?"
Flash chuckles, lowering his head slightly so that his hair veils his eyes. His
hands slip back into his rear pockets. "Twinkertoes, I'm /nothing/. I'm
full of shit. How many times do I have to say this to people?" He looks
over at Karl, not letting the Child of Gaia retreat completely from the
conversation. "What d'you think? Am I lying?"
Karl says "Hey, don't drag me into this. But yeah... he's a Raggy, Adrian -
he's supposed to get under your skin. Right?""
Adrian snorts, "Fuckin' Ragabash." He extends his hand again, "So, tell me
Flash... friends?" His face lights with a half smile.
Flash shrugs. "If you want to be friends with a shiteater..." He clasps hands.
Adrian smiles, "Why not, I know a lot of cock suckers." He pauses, "You don't
*actually* eat shit do yo?"
Karl seems surprised at the sudden lack of tension. In fact, it has him almost
as uneasy as he was when the words were harsh.
"It's Gaia's chocolate," Flash quips, deadpan.
Adrian grimaces, "Foul. Just foul." He moves to sit down. "So, *are* you gay?"
Karl laughs at Flash's joke, then just chuckles quietly to himself.
Flash shrugs, smiling in a stupid 'aw, shucks' kind of way. "Stargazers don't
believe in sex. It gets in the way of contemplating our navels."
Adrian blinks, "That sucks, I like sex. Just wish I had more of it." He shrugs
a bit and leans against a rock.
Karl remains quiet. He looks about uncomfortably, feeling left out of the
conversation.
Flash grins. "An honest man. What about you, Karl?" Relentlessly, he draws the
Gaian back. "Do /you/ like sex? Girls or boys?"
Adrian looks over at Karl, "Yeah Karl... what do you like?" He smiles wickedly.
Karl blushes and turns his face away so neither can see how uncomfortable he
is. "Yeah, I uh... girls," he says, then looks down at the ground, is if
perhaps there's something interesting there that he's looking at as an
excuse for not facing them.
"You sure?" asks Flash, head cocked. "I mean, have you tried the other side of
the fence?"
Adrian nods and frowns, "I had hoped the other, not like I could do anything
with you, but you will make some girl happy." He looks at Karl and blinks
as he chuckles softly.
Karl clears his throat and scuffs at the ground with his shoe, not giving an
answer to either and still not showing his flushed face.
Flash sits down crosslegged on a patch of steam-dampened rock, smirking a bit
at Karl's discomfort.
Karl frowns and grunts. He says defensively, "No I haven't and no I don't want
to." He huffs and scuffs at the ground again.
Adrian nods, "Wow, and I thought I got defensive."
"Why not?" The Stargazer tips his head, staring at Karl with an expression of
honest curiosity.
Karl turns to Flash and throws his hands in the air in exasperation. "Why the
fuck do we have to talk about /this/?"
Adrian frowns, "Why the fuck can't we?"
Flash leans forward, resting an elbow on his leg and his chin on his fist. The
more discomfited Karl gets, the more fascinated the metis looks.
"Because I don't want to," Karl snaps. He catches Flash's look of fascination
and momentarily glares.
Adrian says "Karl..." He starts to say something, but then stops. He looks
slightly hurt, but shrugs it off, "What do you want to talk about then?"
Flash, at the glare, clutches at his shirt as if wounded and topples backwards
off the rock, hitting his head on the ground behind him with an audible
>thock<.
Karl is abou to responds to Flash's display with a geniune chuckle, but he
quickly tries to disguise it with a cough and hide his smirk. He's angry,
remember? "Fuck this," Karl utters, turning and storming off for the
treeline.
Adrian watches him go quietly.
"But I thought that Unicorn was all about loooooove...!" Flash cries out
plaintively, still on his back.
Karl hears well enough, but doesn't show it. He continues on his way in a huff.
Adrian disregards Karl, letting him take off. He turns to Flash, "I've never
met a metis before. Whats it like? I take it from your names it's been
hard."
Flash gets his hands against the ground and sits up. "Hard? Nah. And, I dunno,
what's it like being a homid?" He sits crosslegged again, peering up at
the Get.
Adrian smiles and nods, "Point taken. You can't shoot aload, that must suck."
"Can't shoot a--?" Flash blinks, then snorts, looking amused. "If metis were
/incapable/, you wouldn't have people arguing whether or not it's against
the first law to fuck us."
Adrian blinks, "So you *can* cum? Wow, not so bad. Same as against the first
for two male Garou I guess. You'd think two male with one being metis
would be totally OK, there's NO chance then." he chuckles and winks.
Flash shrugs, his smile fading. "Garou shall not mate with Garou. Doesn't
matter the configuration or if one's sterile. It makes Mama Gaia cry."
Adrian looks at Flash, "I thought that was Metis who made her cry." He watches
the other.
Flash smiles like a cat, his eyes half-lidding behind the overhang of hair.
"Lots of things make Mama Gaia cry, sweetcheeks."
He's tall but gawky, a rail-thin, bit-over-six-foot beanpole with dark
blond hair that's almost brown and muddy blue eyes that usually are
forced to peer out from behind overlong bangs. While he's not out-and-out
ugly, his youthful, nerdish features are not particularly handsome,
either, and depending on what he's wearing he looks to be anywhere from
his late teens to his mid-twenties. His tenor voice, which tends to rise
in octave when he's worked up, has an accent that's hard to pin down.
His long-sleeved, shimmery silver shirt is worn untucked over a pair of
soft, faded bell-bottomed blue jeans that sport an American flag patch on
each asscheek. From the cuffs of his jeans protrude the shiny, pointy
metal toes of his cowboy boots. Completing the outfit is an olive green
army jacket that's just a bit too short in the sleeves. Tied around his
forehead is an American Flag bandana.
Adrian says "So, whose scouting you?"
Flash utters a short 'heh' and headflicks. "Shadow Lord. Not the
elder-and-warder, but the other Fostern. Cutter. He's forming up a Fox
pack."
Adrian nods, "I dont know if Jamethon would take me in a pack."
Flash's eyebrows rise. "Why not?"
Adrian shrugs, "I don't think he likes me much." He sighs a bit, "I can find
another pack, probably."
"Hmm." Flash considers, scratching his chin. "There's Griphus, under Chimera.
Layne, Olga... couple of others. And the Alpha, Megan, is forming a pack,
too, but, well, she hates your tribe, so." He shrugs. "I'd try Griphus.
They seem nice enough. Layne anyway, and she's its alpha. I /think/."
Adrian nods, "Olga aint all that bad either."
Flash grins, showing off straight pearly whites. "There y'go!"
Adrian nods, "So, where do you sleep?"
"Farmhouse," Flash answers. "Specifically, in the barn."
